TAIGA TAKAHASHI 704 DENIM TROUSERS C.1920'S RAW INDIGO

T.T(Taiga Takahashi)의 아이코닉 아이템 중 하나인 1920년대 스타일의 진(jeans)이다. 디자이너 타카하시 타이가는 리바이스보다 ‘스토어 브랜드’라 불리는 계열의 데님을 더 선호했다. 특히 Foremost라는 브랜드를 전개한 J.C. Penney에 애정을 가졌으며, 이 브랜드는 1920년대에 리바이스를 모방한 데님을 만들기 시작해 점차 독창적인 디자인을 전개하였다. 그는 이러한 브랜드들의 데님을 수집하며, 리바이스와 차별화를 시도했던 실험정신과 의지를 디테일 곳곳에서 느꼈고, 그 정신을 이어받아 Taiga Takahashi만의 오리지널 데님을 완성하였다. 미국산 오가닉 코튼을 사용하고, 오카야마에 위치한 구식 셔틀 직기에서 천천히 직조한 3/1 왼쪽 능직(LHT) 라이트 온스 데님을 사용하였다. 이 셔틀 직기는 현대식 직기의 10~20분의 1 속도로만 작동하기 때문에, 면사의 자연스러운 울퉁불퉁함이 그대로 살아 있으며 균일하지 않은 무늬와 질감이 고스란히 남는다. 경사(縦糸)는 황화염료를 혼합한 인디고로 염색되어, 마치 풍화된 듯한 그린 캐스트 컬러가 특징이며, 로프 염색 방식으로 실의 중심은 흰색으로 남도록 염색하였다. 위사(横糸)에는 시간의 흐름을 느끼게 하는 누렇게 바랜 기운의 특주 네프사(불균일한 섬유)를 사용하였다. 이 두 가지 실을 조합함으로써 Taiga Takahashi 특유의 깊고 짙은 인디고 블루 컬러가 완성되었다. 마무리 단계에서는 수축을 방지하기 위해 산포라이즈드(Sanforized) 가공을 적용하였다. 원단은 흰 셀비지(White Selvedge)가 있는 셀비지 데님으로, 벨트 안쪽 등 다양한 디테일에 셀비지를 활용해 완성도를 높였다. 이 진은 밑위가 깊고, 허벅지부터 밑단까지 일자로 곧게 떨어지는 여유로운 실루엣이 특징이다. 전면에는 곡선 형태의 프런트 포켓이 있으며, 여밈 부분의 리벳, 후면의 버클백 등 1920년대 데님 팬츠에서 볼 수 있는 디테일을 충실히 재현하였다. 버튼과 백 부자재는 모두 철 소재로, 특주 제작된 각인 버튼을 사용하였으며 도금 처리를 하지 않아 시간이 지남에 따라 자연스럽게 녹이 슬며 에이징을 즐길 수 있다. 1920년대 당시와 동일한 방식으로 제작되어, 모든 디테일이 정성스럽게 복원되었다. 시그니처 가죽 패치는 일본 아마미오시마(奄美大島)에서 전통적인 진흙 염색(泥染め)으로 마감하였다. 소재의 특성상, 색 빠짐이나 이염이 발생할 수 있다.

1920年代スタイルのジーンズであり、T.T（Taiga Takahashi）のアイコニックなアイテムのひとつである。デザイナーのタイガ・タカハシ氏はLevi’sよりも、いわゆる“ストアブランド”と呼ばれる系統のデニムを好んでいた。中でもJ.C. Penneyが展開したForemostというブランドに強い愛着を持っていた。Foremostは1920年代にLevi’sを模倣したデニムの製造を始め、やがて独自のデザインを確立していった。タカハシ氏はこれらのブランドのデニムを収集し、Levi’sとの差別化を図るために試みた実験的なディテールや精神を感じ取り、その理念を受け継ぎ、Taiga Takahashi独自のオリジナルデニムを完成させた。アメリカ産オーガニックコットンを使用し、岡山の旧式シャトル織機でゆっくりと織り上げた3/1左綾（LHT）のライトオンスデニムを採用。この織機は現代の織機の10分の1〜20分の1の速度でしか稼働せず、糸本来の凹凸や自然なムラがそのまま残るため、均一でない味わいのある生地に仕上がる。経糸は硫化染料を混ぜたインディゴで染め上げ、風化したようなグリーンキャストカラーが特徴。ロープ染色により糸の芯は白く残されている。緯糸には経年変化を思わせる黄味がかった特注ネップ糸（不均一な糸）**を使用。この2種類の糸を組み合わせることで、Taiga Takahashiならではの深く濃いインディゴブルーが完成した。仕上げには防縮加工（Sanforized）を施し、縮みを防止。ホワイトセルビッジ付きのセルビッジデニムを使用し、ベルト裏など随所にセルビッジをあしらって仕立てている。股上が深く、太腿から裾までまっすぐ落ちるゆったりとしたシルエットが特徴。前面にはカーブを描くフロントポケットがあり、フライのリベットや背面のバックルバックなど、1920年代のデニムパンツに見られるディテールを忠実に再現している。ボタンとバックパーツはすべて鉄製で、特注の刻印入りボタンを採用。メッキ処理を施していないため、時間とともに自然な錆が生じ、エイジングを楽しむことができる。1920年代当時と同じ手法で製作され、すべてのディテールが丁寧に復元されている。シグネチャーレザーパッチは、日本の奄美大島で伝統的な泥染め（どろぞめ）技法により仕上げられている。素材の特性上、色落ちや色移りが起こる場合がある。

This 1920s-style jeans is one of T.T (Taiga Takahashi)’s most iconic pieces. Designer Taiga Takahashi preferred so-called “store-brand” denim over Levi’s, showing a particular fondness for Foremost, a brand developed by J.C. Penney. Foremost began producing Levi’s-inspired denim in the 1920s and gradually evolved its own distinctive designs. As Takahashi collected these garments, he was inspired by their experimental approach and desire to differentiate themselves from Levi’s, carrying that same spirit into creating his own original denim. Made from 100% U.S. organic cotton, the fabric is a 3/1 left-hand twill (LHT) lightweight denim woven slowly on vintage shuttle looms in Okayama. These looms operate at only one-tenth to one-twentieth the speed of modern machines, preserving the yarn’s natural uneven texture and producing a fabric with organic irregularities. The warp yarns are indigo-dyed with a mix of sulfur dye, resulting in a weathered green-cast tone, while the rope-dyeing process keeps the yarn cores white. The weft yarns are made from custom nepped fibers with a yellowish, time-worn tone, and the combination creates Taiga Takahashi’s signature deep indigo blue. The fabric is Sanforized to minimize shrinkage and features white selvedge, used as a design element in areas such as the inner waistband. The jeans have a deep rise and a relaxed, straight silhouette that falls cleanly from thigh to hem. Details such as the curved front pockets, fly rivets, and back buckle faithfully recreate features found on 1920s denim pants. All buttons and hardware are made of iron, with custom-engraved unplated pieces that will naturally rust and patina over time. Crafted using the same methods as in the 1920s, every detail has been faithfully restored. The signature leather patch is finished using the traditional dorozome (mud-dyeing) technique from Amami Oshima, Japan. Due to the nature of the material, fading and color transfer may occur.
